The news is out: Sams is offering a $7,99 pharmacy employee a full-time job for three months starting on May 12, 2017.
The Sams spokesperson told The New York Times that Sams employees have been “highly skilled and well-prepared” for the new job offer.
“They’ve been highly skilled and very prepared to handle the pressures of this job, and they have proven themselves with this job offer,” the spokesperson said.
This new pharmacy employee will be able to work in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, where Sams has locations.
In an interview with The New Yorker, Sams VP of Pharmacy Dr. Amy Lee said that the pharmacy was in discussions with a number of other employers and was still “looking at our options” but would not disclose which.
At a time when drug pricing has been in a steady decline, it is an incredibly difficult time to be a pharmacy employee.
But this new position at Sams, which is expected to take about eight weeks to complete, has the potential to save money.
Dr. Lee also said that Samas would be offering other incentives to help pharmacy employees stay in the job.
As of this writing, the pharmacy’s offer has not been accepted by any employers.
