Lakeview, California, is building a new drug-making facility that will provide the company with a large expansion of its Lakevale pharmacy.
The company has about 2,500 employees in the Bay Area, where it has been expanding the pharmacy.
The new Lakeview facility, which will be built on land adjacent to the San Francisco Bay, is expected to open in 2019, said Steve Toczek, the company’s chief executive.
Toczek said the company is still looking for a location that fits the needs of its customers, and that it will be looking to find a site within a short time.
He added that the new Lakevale location is located a block from the company-owned store on the second floor.
Lakeview’s new drug manufacturing facility is expected be more than double the size of the existing one, which is located on a 5,200-square-foot lot.
The drug company is building the Lakeview site in collaboration with the San Jose-based San Jose Medical Group.
Lakeview is building on the land formerly occupied by a local health club.
Tocakov said Lakeview hopes to create an additional 1,000 jobs and will invest $250 million over the next five years to expand its operations.
