The Walgens pharmacy in Tarrytown, Pennsylvania, may be the best in the world, but the pharmacy is also the only one that will be open during the entire Thanksgiving holiday.
Walgreens spokesperson Erin McElroy told Newsweek that the company had decided to close its doors for Thanksgiving due to “economic and staffing reasons,” but did not elaborate on the reasons for the closure.
McElroy said that the TarryTown store is expected to open at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
The Walgreen store is also expected to reopen around 11 p.t. on Thursday.
A spokesperson for Walgarts parent company, Walgreen Companies, told Newsweek on Thursday that the decision to close the Tarytown Walgop pharmacy was made in order to “make room for other Walgops in our stores.”
“The Tarry Town Walgos are the largest pharmacy in America, with over 60,000 employees, and have been a longtime employer and benefactor of our community,” the spokesperson said.
“While our team of associates and pharmacists will continue to serve our community during this time, our store is closing to allow for additional growth in our Tarry town location.”
